Decluttering My Minimalist Mom Home Office

A cluttered space will give you a cluttered mind.

I recently decluttered two areas in my home: my boys’ closet and dining room cabinets. I was storing office and homeschool materials in both of those places but now that I have my newly renovated home office most of those materials can be stored there.

Being a work-from-home mom, I love having my home office, and I typically keep it clean and minimal so that it’s easy to reset. The minimalist space also helps my productivity.

While I’ve been decluttering around the house, I’ve been letting the clutter pile up on the floor until I gathered all items I thought belonged in our home office.

The clutter has been driving me crazy though and I haven’t been able to be as productive as I usually am. I even started working in other areas of the house because of how terrible the space made me feel.

I finally stopped avoiding the space because I was motivated to feel good in my office again. I wanted my zen back. I committed to a late-night decluttering session, shared what I was doing on social media so that I could get some accountability to follow through, and got to work sorting through items.

It was hard but I’m so glad I did it. I’ve been working in my office the past couple of days and it’s felt great. Honestly, I want to let go of even more stuff.

I hope this inspires you!
